What's the purpose of this site?

The envisioned purpose of this site was to enable mobile access (via texting/SMS) to sites that people may already be using. The first application of this site was to provide access to Google's calendaring capabilities.

Why do I have to send texts to an email address instead of a short phone number?

By using an email address, this allows anyone in the world access to use slicci.com's services. Not to mention working directly with SMS gateways can be pretty costly, and better left to the big boys... =) (see next question)

Why offer up gmail calendar via SMS when I can already just send texts to 48368 (GVENT)?

Actually, I had already started working on this before I realized that Google already offers this (it seemed to be an "undocumented" or lesser-known feature for awhile). However, since Gmail gcal-via-text service is only available in the U.S., I decided to just complete the work and mimic the functionality that google provides. Additionally, there are a few "extra" features that slicci.com provides.

What other features will this site have?

I've got a few more ideas, but if you've got any for me or just want to make a suggestion, let me know. =)
